Sensors generally fall in one of the following categories

  • The wide band O2 sensor which is used to measure the Air/Fuel ratio

  • Pressure sensors used to measure liquids and gases such as fuel, oil, nitrous, transmission, air inlet etc.

  • Temperature sensors which measure liquid and gas temperature such as EGT, water etc.

  • Travel sensors measure the movement of suspension components, throttle etc.

  • Speed-RPM sensors that measure the rotational speed of axles, shafts etc.

Most data logger or data acquisition systems expect a 0-5 volt signal representing the full range of the measured item. For example in the case of a 0-100 PSI pressure sensor 0 volts = 0 PSI while 5 volts = 100 PSI. Not all sensors provide a linear output. While many data loggers require linear input, the Innovate line can take a non-linear  input signal. Our Pressure, Travel and Speed sensors are 0-5 volt sensors.

Temperature sensors in motor sports are usually Type-K. Type-K sensors (frequently called thermocouples)  use a very small voltage range to indicate temperatures from 0-2000 degrees Fahrenheit.

Our sensors are popular in all forms of motor sports; Drag Racing, Circle Track, Tractor Pulling, Bonneville land speed, off shore and other marine.
